The closure of Obari General Hospital in southern Libya is "a tragedy, and a crime that should be brought to the attorney general, involving everyone from local to central government officials,"said Presidential Council Deputy Chairman Moussa Al-Kouni.

In a tweet, he explained that the hospital "equipped with the latest equipment, with a capacity of 120 beds and 60 employees, is closed due to lack of medical personnel". After an inspection visit to the hospital, Al-Kouni asked: "who is watching? Who allows this? People are suffering from a lack of the simplest medical services."

Obari General Hospital provides its medical services to the people of the three municipalities of Wadi Al-Ajal (Obari, Al-Gharifa and Bint Beya), and suffers from a lack of medical services due to a shortage of medical personnel, and no usable ambulance to transport patients with critical cases or transfer them to the Sebha Medical Center, the nearest medical center to the Wadi areas and municipalities.
