The political agreement between the two sides of the Libyan crisis "must quickly lead to the departure of foreign fighters from Libya," said Presidential Council deputy Ahmed Maiteeg.

"There are many difficulties among the participants of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum," he said in an interview with French newspaper Le Figaro on Monday. "I hope they solve this problem by hiring competent people. I would like to belong to this government, why not as prime minister."

Regarding the chances of organizing the December 2021 elections, Maiteeg said that "organizing fair elections is what we all hope for". "The Government of National Accord has allocated sufficient funds to organize these elections, in accordance with the demands of the High Electoral Commission," he said. "The municipal council elections held in recent weeks in Ghat and Misrata have also gone well, so it is believed that transparent elections can be reached."

Maiteeg held a meeting Monday with the members of the military committee representing the Government of National Accord, to review the steps taken to implement agreements, during which it was revealed that the obstacles to opening the road linking the cities of Sirte and Misrata were overcome.
