The General Command of the Libyan National Army announced the arrests of "seven terrorists" in the southern city of Ubari, some 1,000 km south of the capital Tripoli.
Military units raided an Al-Qaida hideout and arrested the seven terrorists of different nationalities, spokesman Ahmad Al-Mismari said in a statement.
A large amount of weapons and ammunition were seized during the operation, "which aims to pursue and eliminate terrorist remnants," Al-Mismari added.
Ubari and its surroundings often witness movements of terrorist groups as well as arms trade across the Libyan desert.
