The Commissioner of the Ministry of the Interior for the Government of National Accord (GNA), Fathi Bashaga, announced the formation of a committee to provide the needs and requirements for citizens affected by the floods in the city of Ghat, according to a statement published by the ministry on its Facebook page.
According to the resolution, the committee will "urgently provide needs and supplies to alleviate the suffering of our people in the city of Ghat, follow up the situation in the city, address the damage and help citizens affected by the floods."
The statement pointed out that the Presidential Council allocated 10 million dinars to address the situation in the city of Ghat.
Earlier, the Interior Ministry said that the floods that swept the city of Ghat in the far south-west of Libya "covered 70% of its areas" and "flooded neighborhoods in the city, causing severe human and material losses, and caused the displacement of many citizens due to floods."
