Opening of the National Museum

The National Museum officially opened on December 12 at a ceremony attended by the head of the Government of National Unity, Abdulhamid Dabaiba, a number of ministers and officials, members of the diplomatic community accredited to Libya, and Arab celebrities. The ceremony featured a full Italian orchestra, acrobatic performances, dancers, fireworks, and lights that illuminated the entire Red Castle.

The National Museum was reopened after maintenance and development work. The museum houses the largest collection of antiquities on the African continent, but it has been closed since 2011 due to the security situation in Libya since that year.
