Alwasat has learned from a source that France will hand over to Libya, a Greek marble statue from the city of Cyrene that dates back to the 4th century BC, on Thursday.

The source told Alwasat that French judicial authorities have identified the source of the statue after investigations in recent months and decided to officially hand over the piece to Libya.

The source added that the handover ceremony will take place at the headquarters of the Libyan embassy in Paris in the presence of a delegation from the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This step comes within the framework of activating cultural cooperation between Libya and France, including cooperation in the field of archaeological exploration, which was suspended due to the events that took place in the country since 2011.
