A workshop on the protection of cultural heritage was launched for Libya on the Tunisian island of Djerba under the auspices of the Arab League, in cooperation with the Libyan National Commission for Education, Culture and Science.

The workshop aims to raise the capacity of those concerned with the preservation of the cultural heritage in Libya, the management of historic cities and the Antiquities Authority, according to the statement released by the organizers.

The workshop devotes practical concepts to the implementation of international agreements in this regard, including the Hague Convention of 1954 and its Protocols, as well as the UNESCO Convention of 1970.
