Foreign tourist groups visit Libyan archaeological sites

In recent days, a number of cities and archaeological sites in Libya have witnessed an influx of foreign tourists and diplomats, accompanied by the Tourist Police and Antiquities Protection Agency, which was tasked with ensuring the safety of visitors.

Visit to Ghadames

In the ancient city of Ghadames, members of the service secured and guided a tourist group comprising visitors from the United States and Portugal, accompanying them through the alleys and heritage sites of the city, which is one of the most important sites on the World Heritage List.

Tourist group visits the ancient city of Leptis Magna

In the ancient city of Leptis Magna, the agency's branch secured a number of tourist groups of various nationalities during their tour of the city's historical sites. The agency explained that the Leptis Magna office was responsible for escorting and securing the tour as part of its plan to secure tourist traffic and protect historical landmarks.

Similar security measures were taken in the Nafusa Mountains, where the Agency's branch there secured the movements of foreign tourist groups visiting archaeological sites within the jurisdiction of the Nalut and Kabaw offices, with the agency confirming the readiness of its units to provide comprehensive coverage to ensure the safety of visitors and the stability of tourist traffic in the region.

Tourist police secure groups in Sabratha

In the ancient city of Sabratha, members of the Western Region Tourist Police Office accompanied a number of international groups of tourists from Russia, the Netherlands, Hungary, and China. The officers accompanied the delegations during their tour of the city, which is listed as a World Heritage Site.

The Tourism Police and Antiquities Protection Agency also secured the visit of the Swiss ambassador and his accompanying delegation to the ancient city of Leptis Magna, as part of its mission to secure international figures and delegations and enhance security at historical sites.

In separate statements, the agency emphasized that these measures are part of its ongoing plans to protect Libya's cultural heritage and provide a secure environment that helps revitalize the tourism sector and promote Libya's image as a promising tourist destination.
