The Municipal Guard announced that it had uncovered irregularities in the warehouses of Al-Hadba Al-Khadra General Hospital, leading to the referral of the hospital director and the heads of the medical supplies and warehouse departments for investigation, on the instructions of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, following the discovery of large quantities of usable medications and medical supplies inside a storage room labeled as expired.

The guard explained in a statement posted on its Facebook page that the surprise inspection of the hospital’s storage facilities was carried out by the director and members of the Abu Salim branch of the Municipal Guard, in cooperation with the Investigation and Information Gathering Office, the Tripoli Central Municipal Guard Branch, and the Support and Patrols Department, in the presence of members of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, as part of a regulatory plan aimed at protecting citizens’ health.

It added that the inspection teams found a storage room with an exterior sign indicating that it was designated for storing expired medications; however, the inspection and examination revealed the presence of large quantities of medications and medical supplies with expiration dates as late as 2026 and 2027.

The agency noted that these medicines and supplies were procured by the Ministry of Health and intended for providing free medical treatment to inpatients, stating that their retention in this warehouse deprived patients of access to them.

According to the statement, the Public Prosecutor’s Office ordered the necessary legal measures to be taken, including the suspension of the hospital director, the head of the Medical Supplies and Equipment Department, and the head of the Warehousing Department, and referred them all for investigation to complete the legal proceedings and uncover the circumstances of the incident.
