The Ministry of Health of Libya's Government of National Accord (GNA) on Thursday condemned attacks against two field hospitals in southern Tripoli, which killed a paramedic and injured four others.

"The Ministry of Health condemns in the strongest terms the continued attacks and targeting of field hospitals, medical staff, health facilities and ambulances, the latest of which was on two field hospitals and ambulances at dawn on Thursday in Salah El-Din and Wadi Al-Rabee areas," the ministry said in a statement. 

The statement confirmed that the attack killed a paramedic and injured four medical workers, and also destroyed the two field hospitals.

"The ministry renews its call on the UN-backed government, the UN Security Council, the UN Mission in Libya and the International Criminal Court to act to stop this aggression and to prosecute the perpetrators and bring them to justice," the statement added.

Medical workers had been attacked previously in Tripoli, despite warnings by the World Health Organization. 

The Libyan National Army army has been leading a military campaign since early April to take over Tripoli, home to nearly 2 million people, from the UN-backed government.
