The arrived in Sirte under the auspices of the Therapeutic Services Support and Development Authority of the Government of National Unity.

The Assistant Director General of Ibn Sina Hospital, Dr. Jadallah Deryak, said that the medical team is being headed by Dr. Osama Al-Fitouri, consultant cardiovascular surgeon at Al-Hawari Center for Cardiology in Benghazi.

Deryak explained that the operations include diagnostic cardiac catheterization, examination of the coronary arteries of the heart and X-ray imaging to detect any blockages or abnormalities.

Therapeutic catheterization procedures include dilating blocked coronary arteries, placing and installing metal stents to prevent re-blockage, or installing a pacemaker.

He added that performing these costly operations comes within the initiative by the Therapeutic Services Support and Development Agencyto localize treatment inside the country.

Dr. Deryak points out that the installation of diagnostic and therapeutic stents and catheters inside the country has reduced financial burdens on patients and is now performed free of charge through Libyan expert doctors.
