The National Center for Disease Control confirmed on Saturday, that no positive or suspected cases of Ebola have been reported in Libya, noting that the epidemiological situation remains stable.
The Center said in a statement that it is monitoring developments in the epidemiological situation regarding the Ebola virus outbreak in both the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda through national and international surveillance channels, in coordination with health authorities.
It noted that surveillance and epidemiological investigation teams, as well as rapid response teams, remain on high alert and are conducting continuous monitoring, while strengthening health surveillance measures and raising the level of readiness to detect and manage any suspected cases in accordance with approved technical procedures.
Ebola is not airborne
The Center emphasized that Ebola is not transmitted through the air like respiratory diseases, but rather through direct contact with the bodily fluids of an infected person or contaminated objects, stressing that adherence to health guidelines and early reporting of any suspected symptoms are among the most important means of prevention.
The center called for avoiding the circulation of unconfirmed news or information, noting that any updates regarding the epidemic situation will be announced through its official channels.
