Libya's National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced on Wednesday that it had sent the first shipment of medicines to Ubari General Hospital after the hospital located in the southwest of the country was included under the umbrella of the corporation.

On March 18, the NOC announced that Ubari General Hospital would fall under its supervision, based on a decision by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Corporation, Farhat Bengdara, in order to ensure its operations are up to international medical standards.

The NOC indicated that the 120-bed hospital, which was opened in 1989, suffered from an acute shortage of medical staff, devices, and equipment.

Ubari General Hospital includes several specialized medical departments, including children's, women's and ophthalmology departments, in addition to a laboratory, operating rooms, and two departments for physiotherapy and dialysis.
