Sabratha Teaching Hospital's kitchen shut down for health violations

The Food and Drug Control Center announced on Sunday the closure of the kitchen at Sabratha Teaching Hospital, after discovering 11 health violations, including the presence of cockroaches and rotting food.

This came during inspection tour by Food and Drug Control Center in the city, accompanied by the Municipal Guard and the Internal Security Agency.

The Violations:

1- Poor general hygiene

2- Food preparation area is dilapidated and unhygienic

3- Lack of commitment by some workers to wear hair covering and gloves

4- Presence of worker without a health certificate

5- Dirty cooking equipment and cutting utensils

6- Presence of cockroaches inside the kitchen

7- Presence of expired goods

8- Presence of rotting vegetables inside refrigerator

9- Meat storage refrigerator emits unpleasant odors and is poorly cleaned

10- Toilets are poorly cleaned, worn out and unsanitary

11- Kitchen suffers from contamination in general 

Legal measures were taken with the municipal guard locking the kitchen and a detailed report was prepared and delivered to the competent authorities.
