The National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced the signing of a training cooperation agreement between the Sebha Institute of Petroleum Technology and the European Union-funded French Agency for Development Cooperation, during a ceremony held today, Wednesday, in Tripoli.

The NOC noted that this initiative was launched by the Renewable Energy Department, under the supervision of the NOC’s General Directorate of Training, Development, and Capacity Building, as part of efforts to strengthen national capabilities and support sustainable development strategies.

The signing ceremony was attended by the chairman and members of the Management Committee of the Sebha Institute of Petroleum Technology, representatives of French Agency for Development Cooperation, the head of the European Union’s Renewable Energy, Environment, and Climate Program, as well as the director of the Renewable Energy Department and the director of the Technical and Administrative Development Center at the NOC.

Objectives of the Cooperation Agreement

The agreement provides for the implementation of advanced specialized training programs in the field of renewable energy, targeting third-year students at the institute and a number of trainers, in order to develop their technical and professional skills in line with the modern requirements of the job market, and to support the national drive toward the use of sustainable energy sources in accordance with environmental and climate goals, according to a post by the NOC on its Facebook page.

The corporation explained that this agreement is part of its vision to invest in human capital and localize knowledge in the fields of clean energy, thereby ensuring the development of a pool of talent capable of leading the advancement of clean and renewable energy in Libya.
