Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) said that its subsidiary Mellitah Oil and Gas Company began operating a new gas well, A-57, in the Al-Wafa field with a production capacity of 15 million cubic feet per day, in a statement on Tuesday.

The new gas well that was linked to production on Tuesday will contribute to the increase of gas supply to the local network, and the surplus will be exported, NOC said.

NOC added that drilling of other wells in Wafa field is ongoing, and that work was currently under way to drill well A-58, which is expected to be completed in mid-December.
