Presidential Council leader Mohamed Menfi stressed the importance of achieving economic integration between Libya and Tunisia and jointly overcoming all obstacles. Menfi made these remarks during his meeting with Tunisian Prime Minister Sara Zaafarani Zenzari on Tuesday in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, on the sidelines of their participation in the Africa-France Summit under the theme “Africa Forward.”
Cooperation between Libya and Tunisia
Menfi emphasized the need for continuous coordination in the interest of both peoples, calling for efforts to strengthen and develop bilateral cooperation between the two countries and to prepare well for upcoming bilateral events to ensure the prosperity and stability of both nations, according to a statement by the Tunisian government.
For her part, the Tunisian Prime Minister praised the strong historical ties and distinguished cooperative relations between the two countries.
During this meeting, several points of mutual interest were discussed, and views were exchanged regarding the situation in the region.
The need to strengthen and intensify bilateral cooperation in various fields was also emphasized, as well as the importance of enhancing meetings and coordination between senior officials of both countries and joining forces to address the challenges facing the entire region.
Tunisia and the Political Settlement in Libya
Zenzari stated that “Tunisia’s security is Libya’s security,” recalling President Kais Saied’s position calling for a Libyan-led solution through consensus and dialogue among the various Libyan parties.
Tunisia is acting as a facilitator for negotiations on a political settlement to the Libyan crisis, and members of the “mini-table,” or the so-called “4+4 Committee,” are scheduled to meet on Tunisian soil today, Tuesday. The second session of this kind will be dedicated to discussing the electoral framework within the context of the UN mission.
