The Director General of the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund, Belqasim Haftar, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of GKSD Holding, a subsidiary of the Italian San Donato Group, Kamal Ghribi, signed contracts for the implementation of three projects in the city of Benghazi.
On Thursday, Belqasim Haftar welcomed a high-level Italian delegation in Benghazi, headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Edmondo Cirielli, Italian Ambassador to Libya Gianluca Albrini, and the Italian Consul in Benghazi, in addition to a delegation from GKSD Holding headed by Ghribi.
Strategic projects with the Italian company
The Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund said on its Facebook page that Haftar held an official meeting with the Italian delegation “dedicated to discussing a package of strategic projects to be implemented in cooperation with the company.”
The meeting was attended by the fund's project management director, Hatem Al-Araibi, the general manager of the Benghazi Medical Center, the general manager of the National Cancer Center, and the general manager of the Children's Hospital for Pediatrics and Surgery, along with a number of the fund's department managers and a select group of specialized engineers.
Contracts signed with the Italian company
Following the meeting, contracts were signed for the operation and management of the National Cancer Center in Benghazi, the comprehensive maintenance, operation, and management of the Benghazi Medical Center, and the construction and operation of two plants for recycling waste and producing electricity in Benghazi.
The Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund noted that this step comes within the framework of supporting international partnerships, enhancing the efficiency of the health sector, and developing infrastructure and vital services projects, thereby contributing to improving the level of services provided to citizens and advancing sustainable development in the city of Benghazi.
