The head of Libya's Presidential Council, Mohamed Menfi, asked the governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Naji Issa, to provide a detailed report on the value of cash distributed to all banks, specifying the branches and recipients during 2025.

This came in a letter addressed by the director of his office to the director of the office of the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya. The request came in light of the worsening liquidity crisis and its impact on citizens' ability to meet their basic needs for goods and services.

A detailed report was also requested on the total amount of cash in circulation, as well as the total value of banknotes printed after withdrawals were completed and the value of withdrawals in progress.

Liquidity Crisis and Assurances from the Central Bank

Last Saturday, the Central Bank of Libya reassured citizens following complaints about the return of lines outside commercial banks, confirming the availability of sufficient cash at various branches across the country.

In a statement, the bank stressed that it would continue to provide the necessary liquidity to ensure that citizens receive their salaries for this month and the coming months without delay.

The bank urged the public to avoid crowding in front of banks to maintain the smooth flow and safety of banking services and encouraged them to use electronic payment methods, describing them as "safer and easier."
