The Fund for the Reconstruction of Derna and Affected Areas announced on Sunday that it had begun paving roads in the 'Suani 15' area of Derna to facilitate traffic flow and reduce congestion.
In a brief statement, the fund said that the project represents a new step toward restoring life and infrastructure in Derna and “consolidating the vision of balanced development and comprehensive reconstruction in various regions of Libya,” as it put it.
The city of Derna suffered severe damage as a result of the devastating Storm Daniel, with floods sweeping away entire neighborhoods and destroying schools, markets, and public infrastructure, killing and displacing thousands and forcing thousands more from their homes.
