Libya's Arabian Gulf Oil Company (AGOCO) says it expects the completion of two units gas power generation units at Nafoura oil field by September. Work on the project began on August 27, 2022.

The company indicated that the construction work in the project has reached an advanced degree, with turbines being placed on its base of the site, according to the company statement on,Monday.

The project supervisor, Abdullah Al-Tawati, said that Austria's OMV, the US company Solar Turbines and France's EMI are collaborating to implement the project.

He added that Italy's Indico was chosen as a sub-contractor to undertake construction and installation work.

Al-Tawati pointed out that the Nafoura field is under development to increase its production rate as recommended by the National Oil Corporation. That inturn necessitates an increase in electrical capacity, whether through the new project or through renovations of the electrical equipment that already exists.
