Government of National Stability Prime Minister Fathi Bashagha issued a decision on Tuesday to form a committee headed by Deputy Prime Minister Salem Al-Zadma to investigate the causes of the fuel crisis in Libya's southern region.
The committee, according to Resolution No. 19 of 2022, includes the membership of the Minister of Social Affairs, the Director of the Southern Region Operations Department of the Brega Oil Marketing Company, the Director of the Sebha Security Directorate, a representative of the Municipal Guard, a representative of the Internal Security Agency, a representative of Major General Tariq bin Ziada Moazez, and a representative of 128th Brigade.
The committee will be tasked with researching and investigating the causes of the crisis and directly communicating with the relevant authorities to taking urgent measures to solve it.
It will also look at developing appropriate solutions to ensure fuel access at the official state prices for citizens.
The committee will be in continuous session until the reasons for its formation are solved and daily reports are to be submitted to the prime minister on the results of its work. The committee may also seek the assistance of whomever it deems appropriate to assist it in performing its tasks.
