Menfi and Dabaiba Offer Condolences on the Death of Former Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani

The leader of Libya's Presidential Council, Mohamed Menfi, and the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdulhamid Dabaiba, offered their condolences on Sunday, on the passing of the former Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani.

Menfi wrote in a message on X: “It is with profound sadness and deep sorrow that we received the news of the passing of the Father Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani. We extend our sincere condolences and sympathy to His Highness the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, and the brotherly people of the State of Qatar on this great loss.”

Menfi: Sheikh Hamad Contributed to the Service and Stability of His Homeland

He noted the virtues of the Al-Thani, "which were marked by generosity, dedication, and national contributions, as he used his national dedication to serve his country, strengthen its stability and unity, and enhance its standing regionally and internationally."

As for Dabaiba, he wrote: “With deep sorrow and grief, we extend our sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to my brother His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, and to the State of Qatar and its brotherly people, on the passing of the Father Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani.”

The Qatari Amiri Diwan announced early Sunday morning the death of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the former Emir of Qatar and father of the current Emir, at the age of 74.
