The U.S. President’s Advisor for Arab and African Affairs, Massad Boulos, held discussions with the Director of North African and Middle Eastern Affairs at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Romaric Roignan, regarding the situations in Libya, Sudan, and Western Sahara.
Boulos wrote on his X account on Thursday that he discussed with the French diplomat “areas of cooperation and mutual interest between the United States and France in the Near East and Africa.”
Libya and Western Sahara
Regarding Libya, Boulos said: “We discussed an inclusive, Libyan-led process to unify the country’s institutions in concert with the UN’s political roadmap.”
As for Western Sahara, he noted that they “emphasized the need to continue pursuing a peaceful, durable, and mutually acceptable resolution to the dispute in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2797.”
The Situation in Sudan
Regarding the situation in Sudan, Boulos explained that he and the French diplomat emphasized “the importance of U.S.-French cooperation at the Berlin Conference on Sudan and the joint statement of principles which our two countries endorsed along with 20 other countries and organizations.”
Boulod added that he emphasized the importance the U.S. President attaches to resolving the Sudanese crisis, which remains the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.
