The Sumud 2 convoy resumed its journey with the aim of breaking the blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip, after pausing for a period near the city of Zliten.
Security forces completed passport checks for the activists at the Ka’am checkpoint after the convoy settled at Al-Khansa School, according to a report by Al Jazeera on Saturday.
350 activists from 30 countries
The convoy set off on Friday, at noon from the city of Zawiya, carrying more than 350 activists from 30 countries, including Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Mauritania, Turkey, Indonesia, China, the United States, Germany, Spain, Italy, and the United Kingdom.
Last Thursday, the Red Crescent branch in Benghazi announced its readiness to receive humanitarian aid from the convoy and work to deliver it to the Gaza Strip, in coordination with the Egyptian Red Crescent and the relevant authorities in Libya and Egypt, in accordance with “applicable legal and humanitarian frameworks.”
