The head of the General Command, Marshal Khalifa Haftar, held a phone call on Thursday with the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, during which he expressed his “strong condemnation of the blatant Iranian attacks targeting the UAE.”
During the call, Haftar stressed that “these attacks represent a serious violation and a direct threat to the stability of the region,” expressing “full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates, its leadership, and its people in the face of any aggression targeting its security,” according to a statement posted by the General Command's media office on its Facebook page.
Haftar praises the effectiveness of the UAE's defenses
Haftar praised “the effectiveness of the UAE's defenses in repelling most of the attacks with high efficiency,” stressing that “the Libyan armed forces stand with the UAE in all measures it takes to defend its security and sovereignty,” and emphasizing that “the security of the UAE is an integral part of the security and stability of the Arab region.”
The General Command Media Office added that UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, for his part, expressed his deep appreciation for Marshal Haftar's position, affirming “the depth of the brotherly relations between the two sides and their shared keenness to enhance security and stability in the region.”
Bin Zayed reassures Haftar about the situation in the UAE
Bin Zayed reassured Haftar that “the situation in the UAE is proceeding normally and that the UAE Armed Forces are continuing to perform their duty to ensure the security and stability of the state and the safety of its citizens and residents.”
This comes against the backdrop of Iranian attacks on the UAE and Arab Gulf states that have been ongoing since last Saturday in response to military attacks carried out by the United States and Israeli occupation forces that led to the killing of leaders of the Islamic Republic, including the Supreme Leader of the Iranian Revolution, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
