The Chinese Foreign Ministry invited U.S. Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, to visit Libya among other countries if she "really cares about democracy and human rights", describing her visiti to Taiwan as a "political show".

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin considered in a press conference on Friday evening, that the move is "trampling on democracy and shows how America puts its selfish interests above international justice."

Wenbin added, “if Pelosi really cares about democracy and human rights, she should visit Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and Libya, express repentance to the hundreds of thousands of innocent people who died under the fire of the US military and vow not to let the United States wantonly violate the UN Charter".

Regarding an opinion poll conducted in April 2022 in several countries, including Libya, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Mauritania and Morocco, which showed that people in Arab countries have more positive views of China than the United States, Wenbin commented that he was not surprised to hear his results.

He added "China has always been a sincere and reliable friend of Arab countries."

He also said that Beijing has always adhered to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries and adheres to the principle of mutual respect and mutual benefit.

Pelosi's visit to Taiwan in early August prompted Beijing to impose sanctions on her and her close family, reducing the level of military cooperation with the United States and suspending cooperation in the field of change the climate.
