The Tripoli Public Services Company announced on Thursday the closure of Martyrs' Square in the center of the capital and the surrounding roads from 10 pm Thursday to prepare for the celebrations of the 13th anniversary of the February 17 revolution, according to a brief statement.

The Tripoli Security Directorate's Traffic Affairs Office had previously announced the partial closure of Martyrs' Square on Monday evening, as part of preparations for the same celebrations.

Last Thursday, security officials from the Ministry of Interior held an extensive meeting devoted to discussing the preparation of a security plan for the occasion.

In eastern Libya, the parliament-appointed government led by Osama Hammad, announced on Wednesday the cancellation of official celebrations in solidarity with the victims of Storm Daniel that hit the region last September.
