The head of Libya's Presidential Council praised the support and perseverance of the African Union to assist in the comprehensive national reconciliation process in Libya, noting the Presidential Council's intention to form the High National Reconciliation Commission as soon as possible.

In his speech to the African Union High-Level Committee on Libya meeting held Monday in The Republic of the Congo, Menfi said that the African Union has proven through its high-level chaired by Congolese President Denis Sassou Nguesso and its Commission headed by Moussa Faki and the rest of its structures over 12 years "that it is an effective regional organization capable of achieving benefits for the peoples of the African continent despite the obstacles and difficulties facing joint African action."

He stressed that the African effort "was embodied in perseverance in seeking to help Libya achieve peace and stability," recalling Libya's contributions during previous stages in finding solutions to many conflicts and disputes in several African countries.

In his speech, Menfi also reviewed the course of the national reconciliation project under the auspices of the Presidential Council. He noted that the process led by the Presidential Council since 2021 was built "on the foundations of citizenship without exclusion or discrimination between the people of the same country".

Menfi stressed the importance of strengthening these efforts "by calling on neighboring countries to engage in preparatory work to ensure the expansion of regional efforts in support of the path of national reconciliation," noting that Egypt and Algeria support everything that would accelerate the achievement of comprehensive reconciliation between Libyans with national ownership that ends years of conflict and division.
