DCIM: 7,706 irregular migrants deported from Tobruk in 2023

The Department for Combating Illegal Migration (DCIM), Tobruk branch, announced that 7,706 irregular migrants were deported from the city in 2023.

The branch published a breakdow of the nationalities, which included 5,292 individuals from Sudan, 1,045 Egyptians, 510 Pakistanis, 481 Chadians, 193 from Bangladesh, 104 Syrians and 70 Nigerians, in addition to five Yemenis, four Ghanaians, three Indians, a Tunisian, an Ethiopian and an Eritrean.

The branch noted that 491 of the deported individuals tested positive for HIV, AIDS and communicable diseases.
