The Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Libya's Government of National Unity announced on Tuesday the opening of the Japanese embassy in Tripoli. 

According to a statement issued by the ministry, the director of the Asia and Australia department at the ministry, Nouri Al-Kasih, received the Japanese Chargé d'Affaires Masaki Amadera.

Al-Kasih praised "this step, because of its great impact on relations between the two countries," welcoming at the same time "the appointment of a Japenese ambassador to Libya, which will contribute to advancing relations in a way that serves common interests."
