The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) announced the entry of the first gas unit at the North Benghazi plant into the power grid with a production capacity of 150 megawatts.

The unit began production on Tuesday evening after completing major overhaul work, according to a company statement.

This comes within the plans set by the company's board of directors for the maintenance of power generation units to ensure their efficient operation, the company added.
