Libyan House of Representatives Speaker Aguila Saleh said he is likely to visit Turkey before the end of 2023 at the invitation of parliament there, adding that he will meet President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

In a statement to the Russian agency Sputnik, Saleh spoke about the improvement of relations with Ankara, as well as the improvement of Egyptian-Turkish relations, pointing to his recent visit at the head of a delegation from the House of Representatives, and his meeting with Erdogan.

Saleh also stressed his categorical rejection of the establishment of military bases in Libya, pointing out that the use of experts to train the Libyan army is possible for all countries and has nothing to do with politics.

He explained: "As for foreign military bases, we reject all military bases in our country and we can protect our country. As for training, this is a technical matter related to the armed forces, but politically we do not accept the existence of military bases. The use of experts and scientists is possible for all countries and has nothing to do with politics."

He stressed that relations with Russia are at the highest level, pointing out that Moscow respects the will of Libyans and recognizes the legitimate elected bodies in the country.

"Russia has been supportive of legitimacy in Libya from the beginning, and therefore relations at the highest level like any relations with friendly countries that cooperate and respect the will of the Libyans," Saleh said.
