UAE Assistant Foreign Minister Sultan Al Shamsi announced on Monday that his country has provided 622 tons of relief aid to Libya since September 12, to mitigate the effects and repercussions of Storm Daniel.

Al Shamsi added, according to the Emirates News Agency, that 28 planes transported humanitarian and relief aid, which benefited 6,386 families in Libya.

The aid included food, shelter materials and health parcels, as well as first aid kits, which were distributed in the areas most affected by the disaster, in addition to search and rescue teams equipped with modern equipment to support the carrying out difficult tasks, he said.

Al Shamsi stressed that the UAE airbridge to Libya is continuing, as the Emirates Red Crescent team currently present in the affected areas is assessing the field conditions and studying current needs.
