Libyan Arab Armed Forces Commander Marshal Khalifa Haftar agreed with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, on the need for the 6+6 committee formed by the House of Representatives and High Council of State to complete the development of electoral laws.

Haftar received Bathily and his accompanying delegation at General Command Headquarters in Benghazi on Monday, where the two sides held a meeting to discuss the latest political developments.

The General Command's Information Office said that the meeting "discussed the latest political developments, agreed on the need to finalize the development of electoral laws by the 6+6 committee and create the appropriate conditions for holding presidential and parliamentary elections."

This comes as part of a series of intensive meetings and contacts by Bathily in order to mobilize support for the political process and help parties agree on the constitutional and legal frameworks governing the electoral process. He has met with House of Representatives Speaker Aguila Saleh, High Council of State President Muhammad Takala and High National Elections Commission Chairman Emad Al-Sayeh in the last 3 days.
