The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) announced, at dawn on Friday, a partial power outage in areas surrounding the city of Al Ajaylat which is located 80 km west of Tripoli.

The company said in a brief statement that the power outage came after the electricity transmission lines were damaged by the "ongoing clashes" in the city without revealing further details about these clashes.

The company assured that its maintenance teams were ready to start maintenance work and restore electricity as soon as the clashes ended.
