The head of Libya's Presidential Council, Mohamed Menfi, called on the Arab League to play a “wider and clearer role in Libya, by supporting the efforts of the United Nations and the African Union to achieve national reconciliation, hold general elections in 2023 and to establish an exclusively Libyan mechanism for managing resources.”

In his speech at the Arab summit held in Jeddah on Friday, he referred to progress in Libya due to efforts by the Presidential Council, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, the “5 + 5” Joint Military Commission to unify the armed forces, and steps by the House of Representatives and the High Council of State through the “6 + 6” joint committee to draft elections laws.

He concluded, "We support efforts to achieve Arab solidarity, heal the rift, and resolve differences between us, and we commend Saudi Arabia's efforts in Arab reunification, which led to the holding of the Arab summit in the presence of all members."
