The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) announced the start of periodic inspections on the fifth gas unit at the Western Mountain power station.

The works included replacing the bearing for the compressor with the help of engineers from the German company Siemens, as well as the inspection of the main transformer unit.

It added in a statement that this comes as part of a long-term maintenance contract for generation units with the aim of supporting the network and raising its efficiency.
