Libyan file part of discussions between Egyptian and Turkish foreign ministers in Cairo

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said that he discussed several regional files, including Libya. with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on Saturday.

Shoukry said in a joint press conference with Cavusoglu in Cairo that they "discussed Syria, Libya, Palestine, the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, and the normalization of relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran."

Cavusoglu arrived in the Egyptian capital on Saturday for the first official by a Turkish foreign minister to the country in 11 years.

Turkey's Anadolu agency said Cavusoglu was received at Cairo airport by Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister Ehab Nasr, the charge d'affaires of the Turkish embassy, Salih Mutlu She, and a number of officials.

After an eight-year estrangement, consultations between prominent officials in the Turkish and Egyptian foreign ministries began in 2021, amid Turkish efforts to ease tensions with Egypt, the UAE, Israel, and Saudi Arabia.

Shoukry visited Turkey last month to show solidarity after the devastating earthquakes that killed more than 50,000 people in Turkey and Syria.
