The Minister of Foreign Affairs for Libya's interim Government of National Unity, Najla Mangoush, said on Thursday evening that the meeting with CIA Director William Burns witnessed "fruitful exchanges about cooperating on issues of security, paving the way towards stability and elections in Libya."
Mangoush added through her Twitter account: "Looking forward to translating these excellent initiatives into concrete steps soon."
Burns made a rare trip to Libya on Thursday, meeting with GNU Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dabaiba in Tripoli.
Dabaiba's media office said that the meeting discussed "economic and security cooperation between the United States and Libya."
The CIA, which does not regularly announce such visits, declined to comment.
