The municipality of Tobruk held a ceremony to receive Libyan Arab Armed Forces Commander Marshal Khalifa Haftar during his visit to the city on Monday.
Haftar met with mayors, representatives of civil society organizations and tribes from the Butnan region of eastern Libya at the ceremony.
Speeches praised the efforts of the armed forces in fighting terrorism, their role in securing the borders, their commitment to the ceasefire, and their quest to bring gather Libyan parties.
The head of the Steering Council of Tobruk municipality, Faraj Bou Khattabiya, also gave a speech in which he welcomed Haftar, praising the role of the city of Tobruk in supporting "Operation Karama" and the role of the Libyan army in liberating Benghazi and Derna from terrorism.
Bou Khattabiya congratulated the Libyan army, whose founding anniversary falls on August 9th, noting that the municipalities of Butnan are counting on the army’s support for security services in the region.
