Arab League Secretary General Ahmad Abulghait on Saturday expressed deep concern at latest round of armed clashes in the Libyan capital Tripoli.

The Arab Leagie chief in a statement urged all Libyan parties to maintain the cease-fire, branding it the most significant achievement in Libya since October 2020. However, he called for withdrawing "mercenaries and foreign fighters from the country."

He warned the Libyan groups against resorting anew to arms, noting that the military option proveed unuseful for all the concerned parties in Libya.
