Kuwaiti Foreign Minister stresses need for parliamentary and presidential elections to be held on December 24

Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah said that his country supports a permanent ceasefire in Libya, stressing the need to hold parliamentary and presidential elections on December 24.

In his speech at the Libya Stabilization Conference being held in Tripoli on Thursday, he referred to "Kuwait's firm position in supporting a unified Libyan authority that would enhance the security and stability of Libya."

He called for "giving priority to higher interests, finding peaceful solutions, renouncing violence, and adhering to Security Council resolutions and the recommendations of the "5 + 5" committee to expel mercenaries and foreign fighters from Libya."

He continued, "There is an Arab concern for the unity and stability of Libya and a rejection of all kinds of interference."
