The Gharyan Security Directorate denied the theft of police motor vehicles on Saturday, saying that rumours circulating were untrue. 

The directorate pointed out in a statement that security patrols are deployed at the city's intersections and checkpoints, adding that the security situation is "very good" and a plan has been put in place for the Eid al-Adha holiday.

On Friday, the directorate said that its police officers continued to work until late at night "tirelessly, despite a toll taken by high temperatures during daytime patrols".

The deployment of traffic police and security patrols "demonstrate security and facilitate traffic amid power outages affecting traffic lights," the directorate concluded.
