The Libyan crisis will be at the top of the agenda of the bilateral meeting between Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and US President Donald Trump, to be held in London later on Wednesday, after the end of the NATO summit.

Sources, in remarks to the AKI news agency, said that Conte will renew the call for Trump for a "greater American commitment" to resolve the crisis.

In another context, Conte and Trump will discuss the threat of the United States to impose sanctions on France and Italy because of the digital tax on Internet giants, as well as topics raised at the NATO summit, including repeated calls by the Washington for European members of NATO; to raise their military budgets to 2% of GNP per country.

Conte maintains that "the military option will not lead to stability in Libya," but "destabilizes the region."

The Italian government considers that the Libyan crisis is a source of great concern, according to officials, always stressing that "its solution represents a fundamental national interest."
