Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul-Gheit and Foreign Minister of Libya's Government of National Accord Mohamed Siala discussed on Monday the latest security and political developments in Libya.

During the meeting, Aboul-Gheit reviewed efforts exerted to put an end to the current crisis in Libya as well as encouraging Libyans to return to the path of political settlement by immediately reducing the military escalation and reaching a permanent cease-fire around the capital Tripoli, according to a statement by the Arab League.

They also discussed the issues on the agenda of the Arab League Council meeting that will be held at the ministerial level on Tuesday in Cairo.

The two sides highlighted the need for concerted Arab efforts to stand with Libya, and agreed on a unified vision to support the Libyans in reaching an integrated settlement.
