The Ministry of Interior for Libya's interim Government of National Unity announced the discovery of an ancient house dating back to the Roman era.

According to a ministry statement, several citizens contacted the Tourism Police and the Western region's Antiquities Protection Office regarding the uncovering of a suspected archaeological site in the Barnawi area, located in the municipality of Zawiya.

Several officials from the Tourist Police and Antiquities Protection Office from Sabratha accompanied two experts to inspect the site and discovered that the house dated the late Roman period.

The statement said that legal protection orders were taken regarding the house and members of the Antiquities Protection Office have been assigned to protect the site from tampering and theft.
