The Old City of Tripoli administration announced on Sunday that the project to develop the area around the Marcus Aurelius Arch has reached the final stage.

The works include re-paving the square in the area and Sidi Yacoub Street, maintaining the Bint El Sayed Hotel, the Andalusia café building and the French consulate garden. The facades of the Bab Al Bahr Club, the Zamit Hotel, the Qurji Mosque and its neighboring buildings are also being repainted, according to a statement by the administration.

The statement pointed to the completion of the amphitheater behind the Marcus Arch, fencing surrounding the arch campus and the removal of the water network surrounding it removed to protect it from leakages.

The project comes within the plan to improve and rehabilitate squares in the Old City.
