The city of Derna celebrated the inauguration of the "Awqaf Garden," which was implemented by a group of volunteers from the city’s residents, without any support from the government or state institutions.

The volunteers, headed by Professor Zuhair Azouz, Mr. Khaled Rafie and artist Fathi Boujeldin, built a waterfall symbolizing the Derna waterfall and a large door symbolizing the old city, in addition to planting various types of roses, flowers and ornamental plants.

After the park was handed over to the public cleaning services company in Derna, the company decided to hold a ceremony honoring the volunteers. The celebration witnessed the attendance of a large number of Derna residents.

The artist Rafi Al-Akkouki, the Derna cubs and kindergarten children participated in the celebration with a number of artistic performances and fireworks.
