Al Ahli Tripoli began their campaign in Group B of the Dubai Basketball Championship on Saturday with an 85-75 victory over defending champions Beirut SC.
Al Ahli Tripoli started the game strongly and managed to lead the first quarter 25-20. In the second quarter, Al-Ahli Tripoli added 21 points to Beirut's 20, ending the first half with a 46-40 lead. In the third quarter, Al Ahli added 23 points for a 69-60 lead. In the fourth quarter, Al Ahli maintained its lead to end the game with a score of 85-75.
Al-Kurdani: An important victory for Al Ahli Tripoli
After the game, Tripoli coach Mohamed Al-Kurdani described the win as very important because it comes at the start of the team's journey in the Dubai International Basketball Championship. In a video posted on the club's Facebook page, he said that winning the first game gives the players confidence in the team's ability to continue successfully until the end. He noted that the team's level will improve from game to game as the players become more cohesive, especially after the addition of Ismail Romero and Emmanuel.
Al Ahli Tripoli will have a day off tomorrow, before resuming their campaign in the 35th Dubai Basketball Championship at 5 p.m. on Monday, Libyan time, against Syrian team Al-Karama.
